About Us
Clean City SA is an award-winning, community-based Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) located in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Established in February 2020 as a non-profit company, Clean City SA specializes in the strategic implementation of community-driven initiatives, focusing on promotion, education, and training programs related to:
- Environmental awareness;
- Greening;
- Clean-up;
- Sustainability projects
Our purpose is to protect the environment from waste pollution and to fight hunger in our communities

ALEXANDRA - Yesterday, Clean City South Africa NPC`s Alexandra Greening Team planted 25 fruit trees at the River Park Library and River Park Clinic in Alexandra.
Fruit trees planted by this team included plum, pomegranate, nectarine, lemon and almond.

DIEPSLOOT - This afternoon in celebration of the UN World Environment Day 2025, Clean City South Africa NPC in collaboration with the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa Foundation, Diepsloot Mall Centre Management, and some of their tenants, joined hands to clean-up the area surrounding the mall, and the opposite taxi rank.
The innovation and collaborative partnership launched today, is the beginning of the work our organisations will carry out for, and with the community of Diepsloot going into the future.
Our Clean City SA interns and all the participating organisations, did a phenomenal job in recovering recyclable material, and rubbish from the environment.

We educated this team on the different recyclabe material types, and later conducted a clean-up at the Randburg Taxi Rank. In this activity, we recovered rubbish and recyclable material from the environment.
We wish to thank JTI South Africa for their donation of PPE and fruit trees, as part of their contribution to this day. The fruit trees will be planted in Alexandra by our Alexandra Greening Team.
We are grateful for the beginning of a partnership and collaboration going into the future with JTI South Africa.

MILESTONE - Following several months of engagements and and finally reaching an agreement - a software platform and community implementation partnership and collaboration between Clean City South Africa NPC and BBD Software came into effect today.
As a Public Benefit Organisation, we believe that technology will enable our organisation with the edge it requires, in terms of the tools to manage our work efficiently and effectively, in the communities we serve.
Today, BBD Software hosted Clean City SA over a training workshop of this platform.
