Murray van Zyl
Six years ago, after being in the corporate world for his entire working career, Murray realised the incredible need for additional cleaning and environmental services in this country. Murray’s extensive sales and operational experience gained from Bidvest South Africa, equipped him to start a non-profit organisation called the Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative and start his own business at the same time.
Murray’s strengths lie in his operational experience and developing best practice methods to not only achieve the desired task, but to do it better and more efficiently. The drive for efficiency has a direct impact on profits and long-term sustainability of any organisation. He is constantly researching how the best operators in the world achieve their result as he believes that innovation often comes through sharing new innovative ideas that are already being tested.
The Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative (KJGI) now maintains 7kms of river- bank which is 100% funded by the community and corporate funding, has won awards from the City and is recognised by several government departments. His experience places him in an excellent position to drive the Clean City South Africa operations. Murray sits on the boards of 2 non-profit organisations and owns and runs his own business.
